If you’re interested in interior design, you may be aware of the Pantone Colour Institution and their infamous colour of the year which annually leads design trends across the interiors world. But if you’re new to Pantone’s colour of the year, here’s what it means and how it can help shape your home’s style.
What is the PANTONE Colour of the Year?
The colour of the year is a colour snapshot of what Pantone see taking place in our global culture; it serves as an expression of a mood and an attitude. This symbolic colour selection influences and even leads many interior design trends for the following year.
Greenery: Pantone 15-0343
Greenery brings the lushness of the great outdoors into your home; the fresh, zesty yellow-green tone evokes feelings of revival and transports the natural world back into our busy modern lives.
You can read more about Greenery here on Pantone’s website.
Bringing greenery into your home
We love how 2017’s colour of the year brings a sense of freshness, so here are four ideas on how to work this revitalising hue into your home’s style.
Create a statement sofa
If you have a spacious room, Greenery may be the perfect colour to adorn your sofa in; its inherently neutral tone means that it is perfect for large upholstery pieces. Pictured here is the Dexter sofa in Linwood’s Omega Grass; a lush velvet fabric which pairs beautifully with this deep green wall. If the deep green wall isn’t for you, try pairing the look with a creamy white paint instead; this will ensure your beautiful sofa really stands out.

Nod to nature with inspired colour pairings
Create a subtle nod to nature by mixing natural green and blue tones. This unusual colour pairing has a calming effect as the green tones come into their own against this bold background of blue. The natural wood flooring ensures the remainder of the décor is kept simple and the addition of cream or soft green cushions to the Atlas armchair would be in keeping with this. The pattern of the curtains creates enough of a clash to ensure a vibrant look but the overall style is sophisticated and relaxing.

Mix up a perfect colour combination
If you’re thinking about decorating your home with greens, why not go for the classic combination of green and white? Pictured here is the beautiful Venice sofa in Atlantic Cream; the Herringbone pattern creates texture against the green décor and the pops of white from the framed pictures complete the look.

Finish the look with bold soft furnishings
Green is an inviting colour which will make guests feel instantly welcome when they step into your home. Brighten up your living space with bright pops of green in the form of cushions or even a footstool, paired with complimentary colours this look is on trend and refreshing.
