Frames
We are so confident in the skills of our furniture craftsman - who use time-honoured, traditional methods - that we guarantee our robust sofa frame construction for 15 years. The solid character of our tailor-made sofas is enhanced by our choice of especially durable hardwoods, anda frame that uses both hardwood for strength and softwood for flexibility is always a good option. Whether you can see the frame of one of our sofas or not you can depend on its quality and strength, you’ll find that they are reassuringly heavy and solid. Some of the frames even have our special dismantle option, meaning that they can be taken apart to fit through smaller doorways and reassembled in your room of choice.
Springs and comfort
The terminology we use to describe the springs and cushion filling can be a little baffling, but this is purely because we want to provide you with all the right options for your lifestyle and budget. The most comfortable sofas are generally coil sprung, a traditional method, which we have refined over our 30 years. Some furniture, especially our armchairs will also have sprung backs as opposed to having back cushions. The cushions themselves are available with a variety of fillings to suit you. Our high grade 100% duck feather cushion with naturally curly and springy feathers are beautifully soft, they require regular plumping and turning and the duck and down cushions use the highest quality feathers with the addition of duck down, chosen for extra softness. These cushions should not be cleaned with a vacuum cleaner, as this will pull feathers through the casing. If you are allergic to feathers then you could chose the Hollowfil cushion made from synthetic fibre which feels very similar to a feather cushion. The Multiwrap and Multilux are also made from synthetic fibre and are very resilient and can provide soft or firm options.

Loose or fitted covers?
You'll find Multiyork unique among furniture stores in that all our fabric sofas are fitted with tailored replaceable sofa covers. It means, of course, that they can be easily removed for cleaning – handy if you have young children or pets. What's more, all our upholstery templates - including yours - are archived indefinitely, so we can always make new sofa covers. It's never been easier to change the look of your sofa and your room! Fitted covers aren't so easy to clean, but can be protected with a treatment such as Guardsman – ask in store for our fabric protection options which are available on all fabrics.
Measurements
All our sofas that are on sale online have dimensions displayed so you can measure your doors and hallway to check if access is a problem. Remember most of our sofas can be built as small, medium, large or extra large so if the size you see online is too small or big visit your nearest store to inquire about the other size options that are available. There are also some sofas available in store that can be dismantled for particularly small access space.
Leather or fabric?
Leather sofas are increasingly popular, perhaps because they are so easy to clean - just wipe with a slightly damp cloth. Do bear in mind that leather is best kept away from radiators or fires to prevent the leather drying out, and remember that just like fabric it's not immune to the fading effects of sunlight. Fabric sofas give you a huge range of colour options and with our removable fabric covers the cleaning option is simple too. You could even choose to have replacement covers made for your sofa in different fabrics so that you can change the colour scheme of your room with the seasons.
